Office
Becker's office makes it clear he's not an executive. He has a lot of work, and documents spread chaotically over every surface. There's no art on the walls, but dozens of framed certificates and awards. (1.1.5)
Job
Becker is the office manager. His job is described as "the oily interface that prevented friction between the decisions of the executives and the grunts who’d actually have to do the work". He puts his life into the company, and does the job to the best of his ability. The staff respect him for toning down out-of-touch suggestions from the executive level, but he is also very strict with employees who don't toe the line(1.1.5).
